Approximately twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the region, generating wind gusts hitting 109km/h.

Massive Hailstones and Broad Damage

Residents observed giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Response teams were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the extensive power failures.

Victorian Weather Woes

Simultaneously, nearly one thousand residents in the southern state also experienced energy failures after the capital city experienced its most precipitation in 18 months.

Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the region, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

Most Impacted Areas

• The Werribee area - experienced considerable weather impact
• Hoppers Crossing area - various assistance requests
• Wyndham region - nearly 180 emergency requests

During the peak on yesterday, more than 28k energy customers in the state were lacking electricity.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.

The following day was forecast to be the most rainy day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both areas.

Safety Concern

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.

This warning comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
