An extensive extended journey through the Land Down Under is being halted in the wake of the tragic passing of an older lady who was left behind by the ship on a distant coastal location.

Suzanne Rees had been walking on the remote island with other travelers from the vessel, but parted ways from the excursion for a rest. The vessel departed without her and went back several hours later after the personnel realised the passenger was missing.

A large-scale search operation discovered her remains the subsequent day.

Officials are looking into the incident, in coordination with police and the state coroner.

The CEO of the shipping company announced that guests and crew on the ship were told that the remainder of the journey had been called off due to the "sad loss and previous technical problems".
